Golden West plans annual meeting on September 27

WALL - A return of more than $2 million in patronage capital credit checks, a free noon meal, a chance to win a $500 grand prize, the election of board members, and voting on the expansion of the Cooperative await members attending the Golden West Telecommunications 56th Annual Membership Meeting on Saturday, September 27th.

“Being able to hand one of our members a check and say thank you is one of the most satisfying aspects of our jobs as directors and employees,” said General Manager/CEO George Strandell referring to the $2,037,510 in capital credit checks being returned to cooperative members this year. This capital credit retirement consists of the remaining 1993 allocation and an additional $1,000,000 for allocations generated between 1994 and 2007.

Annual meeting activities will begin with registration at the Wall Community Center from 10:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Members attending will receive a registration gift, along with a meal ticket for a choice of a hot beef sandwich or ham dinner at a local restaurant.

The business meeting will follow at 1:00 p.m. and will feature reports by General Manager/CEO George Strandell and Board President Rod Renner. In addition, members will elect six directors to the Cooperative’s 12-member board and vote on proposed changes to the Cooperative Bylaws and Articles of Incorporation, including the expansion of the Cooperative.

Director elections this year include a four-year vacancy in District V, between Lyle Jensen and Harold Wyatt, both of Hot Springs. Any Cooperative member who is disabled and requires special accommodations to have full and equal participation in the meeting is asked to contact the Golden West business office at 279-2161 prior to the September 27 meeting date.
