Hot Springs Police and Fall River County Sheriff’s Report

HOT SPRINGS - Here is a synopsis of the calls answered by the Hot Springs city police and the Fall River County sheriff for Aug. 19 through Aug. 25.

Information is taken from the public dispatch log at the sheriff’s office.

Aug. 19

A total of 21 calls were listed on the log for Aug. 19.

12:31 a.m. – Fall River Hospital requested an officer to take a report on an assault. Officer dispatched.

5:42 a.m. – Male caller reporting that he hit a deer on Highway 71. Requested wrecker and a deputy to take a report.

10:37 a.m. – Report of a male seen along the Freedom Trail behind the Brookside. He was bugging people for a match and was seen sleeping on a bench. Officer notified, but was unable to locate.

10:52 a.m. – Taxi driver at Pizza Hut with a non-paying customer. City officer responded and the incident was resolved without arrest.

3:36 p.m. – Male caller reporting a Jeep on fire on Old 18 by Paradise Road. Edgemont Fire Department and deputy dispatched.

9:36 p.m. – Big Bats No. 3 requesting an officer for a dispute.

Aug. 20

A total of 17 calls were listed on the log for Aug. 20.

4:41 a.m. – Male caller advising his dog jumped over the retaining wall by the Inn by the River. Caller wanted to know how to get down there. Dispatch advised him to walk to Centennial Park and work his way back up to the hotel.

6:07 p.m. – Search continues for missing teenager near Edgemont, in connection with burning vehicle.

6:50 a.m. – Subject near Edgemont located.

8:53 a.m. – Edgemont citizen reporting she was a victim of fraud. Deputy was notified and situation will be investigated.

9:06 a.m. – Report from Southside Service of a gas drive-off. Officer advised and vehicle was located on Golf Course Hill. Driver returned to pay for gas.

4 p.m. – Received 911 call from State Veterans Home from a male asking that an ambulance come get him. Called the Home back, subject was fine.

4:25 p.m. – Female reporting a small accident at the stoplight. No injuries reported and officer responded.

7:21 p.m. – Female requesting some cat traps, as her neighbor moved and left eight cats behind. ACO notified of request.

10:16 p.m. – Deputy stopped vehicle on Highway 18. Driver had active warrant for Pennington County, was arrested and taken to Fall River County Jail.

Aug. 21

A total of 27 calls, 11 of them traffic stops, were listed on the log for Aug. 21.

8:31 a.m. – Report that a stop sign in Edgemont has been knocked over. State shop was notified.

9:22 a.m. – City officers called to Wynia Trailer Court for an out of control kid. Officers responded and problem was resolved.

9:23 a.m. – Deputy called to a traffic complaint in Oelrichs. A dirt bike had been tearing up and down Main Street and some citizens had enough and stopped the individual. Situation was handled.

12:14 p.m. – Report from several individuals of a hay baler on fire south of Pine Cone Road. Cascade Fire Department was paged and responded.

4:25 p.m. – Coffee Cup Fuel Stop reported a silver truck left without paying for gas. No deputies or troopers were in the area to respond.

4:28 p.m. – Female caller reporting a bunch of very little kids running in and out of the road near Dairy Queen, attempting to set up a lemonade stand.

4:33 p.m. – Female caller reporting a fire south on Highway 85. Advised Niobrara County.

9:32 p.m. – Female reporting that she saw an individual in a business, in the dark. Officers responded to the call, building was secure and key holder could not be reached.

Aug. 22

A total of 16 calls, seven of them traffic stops, were listed on the log for Aug. 19.

2:19 a.m. – Report of a power line sparking in Edgemont. Black Hills Power notified.

8:06 a.m. – Hot Springs Ambulance paged out to the Evans. City officer assisted.

11:51 a.m. – Report of a gas drive-off at Big Bats No. 3. Vehicle description was given but no direction of travel or plate number was available. City officers notified if the vehicle came to town.

2:13 p.m. – Report of a two-vehicle accident at Minnekahta Junction, no injuries reported. Deputies and highway patrol dispatched.

Aug. 23

A total of 16 calls, eight of them traffic stops, were listed on the log for Aug. 23.

2:51 a.m. – Request for an ambulance at Pine Hills Retirement Community. Hot Springs Ambulance and officers sent.

3:56 p.m. – Male at Big Bats No. 3 reporting a male and female requesting a ride, now walking toward town on Fall River Road. Both are intoxicated.

6:55 p.m. – Female on Cascade Mountain Road reporting that her father’s black Pomeranian is missing.

9:28 p.m. – Longs Resort requesting an ambulance; Hot Springs Ambulance sent.

9:31 p.m. – Pine Hills Retirement Community requesting an ambulance; Hot Springs Ambulance sent.

Aug. 24

A total of 18 calls were listed on the log for Aug. 24.

1:05 a.m. – Park ranger made a stop on Angostura Road. Male arrested on traffic charges.

1:17 a.m. – Report of a fight at The Bar; officers sent.

6:08 a.m. – Male requesting assistance as he is having addition issues. Officer sent and male transported to Fall River Hospital. Doctor filled out mental evaluation petition and subject transported to Rapid City Regional for further evaluation.

11:53 a.m. – Report of a Rottweiler and a Pit Bull loose on the 2200 block of Jennings. Female caller very upset as they are in her yard, chasing her cats. City ACO notified and immediately responded.

12:12 p.m. – Hot Springs Ambulance paged for a female complaining of lower back pain.

4:01 p.m. – Male at Big Bats No. 4 requesting to speak to an officer about being unable to locate his wife.

Aug. 25

A total of 10 calls were listed on the log for Aug. 25.

12:03 a.m. – Female caller in Edgemont was upset with a late-night male visitor. Deputy called reporting party to get a report.

2:29 a.m. – City officer called to a residence when a person was seen lurking around. Turns out that the lurking subject was a relative.

1:14 p.m. – Edgemont Fire Department paged for a small grass fire north of Edgemont along the river.

10:22 p.m. – Male at the Winner Circle requesting to speak to an officer in reference to some people who want to fight with him.

10:54 p.m. – Male caller reporting a fight in the alley near Lynn’s.
