Police and Sheriffs report
HOT SPRINGS - Here is a synopsis of the calls answered by the Hot Springs city police and the Fall River County sheriff for July 15 through July 21.
Information is taken from the public dispatch log at the sheriffs office.
July 15
A total of 18 calls were listed on the log for July 15.
1:40 a.m. Burlington Northern/Sante Fe reporting a right-of-way fire at the intersection of Highway 71 and 471. Ardmore Fire Department and Emergency Manager responded.
1:13 p.m. Report of an intoxicated subject near the Barnes Apartments, subject fell down in the alley. City officer responded and made sure subject was alright.
1:35 p.m. Hot Springs Ambulance paged to Lynns DakotaMart for a woman who fell in the parking lot, sustaining a hip injury.
4:28 p.m. Lynns DakotaMart requesting an officer speak to skateboarders about being in front of entrance and exit doors.
9:55 p.m. Female caller reporting two suspicious vehicles between Provo and the Igloo Bridge, near the railroad tracks.
July 16
A total of 26 calls were listed on the log for July 16.
12:28 a.m. 911 call from female in Cottonwood reporting a snake attempting to get into her house.
10:58 a.m. Caller from Majestic View Apartments regarding a missing bicycle. Officer responded and took report.
11:09 a.m. Caller from 200 block of South Sixth Street regarding a stolen bicycle. Officer responded and took report.
3:31 p.m. Male caller from the county reporting a juvenile broke a window on his screen door, other door windows and broke the door jam. Deputy responded to residence and officer to address in town where the juvenile was believed to be. Male juvenile was located and was arrested for trespassing and intentional damage to private property.
3:57 p.m. 911 call from male who is trying, with his wife and others, to get their cattle out of a neighbors pasture, that the owner was holding them at gunpoint because the cattle were drinking his water. Sheriff and two deputies responded and male with gun was arrested and charged with assault. Subject bonded out and was released.
6:45 p.m. Female caller reporting that she has been waiting at the train stop for 20 minutes. Sheriff was advised.
9:03 p.m. Male caller complaining of barking dog in Heartland Trailer Court. Advised caller that there is no dog ordinance for the county.
July 17
A total of 21 calls were listed on the log for July 17.
6:45 a.m. Rancher on Old Highway 79 reported that he had shot a mountain lion in his yard. Game, Fish and Parks were notified.
1:50 p.m. Report from resident on Cascade Road regarding individual snooping around her home. One said he was an electrical inspector for the state. Deputies dispatched to check, individuals were located, it was determined, through the Electrical Commission, that the subject was an electrician.
2:45 p.m. Report from the Rainbow Motel in Edgemont that one of their rooms had the screen cut to gain entrance. Room was used, but there was no damage and nothing was missing. Deputy was notified and responded.
5:17 p.m. Dawes County (Nebraska) requesting assistance with stolen company vehicle and headed to South Dakota. Vehicle was stopped; male arrested for possession of stolen property, DUI and DUR and was transported to Fall River County Jail.
9:07 p.m. Female caller requesting extra patrols around the Baptist Church for flower thieves.
11:53 p.m. Report of a domestic dispute in progress on Sixth Street in Edgemont.
July 18
A total of 47 calls, many dealing with flooding from the early-morning rains, were listed on the log for July 18.
1:19 a.m. Male on Evanston requesting an ambulance. Hot Springs Ambulance, Fire Department and police sent.
3:31 a.m. Weather services issued a severe thunderstorm and flood warning for Fall River County.
4:53 a.m. Extensive flooding reported in Hot Springs and outlying areas in the county. Various agencies dispatched to deal with problems.
6:34 a.m. Report of a rock slide on Hot Brook Canyon Road; County Highway personnel dispatched.
7:51 a.m. Resident north of Edgemont reporting debris left by flooding on Dewey Road which may also have washed out part of the road. County Highway notified and responded.
8:44 a.m. Call from female at the Evans requesting an officer to come look at a letter she had received.
9:47 a.m. Report of a motorcycle accident near Edgemont. One injured. Edgemont Ambulance, Fire Department and two deputies responded. Patient transferred to Fall River Hospital for treatment.
10:13 a.m. County Highway advising that they are closing Dewey Road north of Edgemont due to erosion on the road.
10:43 a.m. Department of Corrections crews from Custer in town, clearing debris from dip bridge, bridge on Joplin and around Fall River Road.
5:55 p.m. Sheriff advising that the Cheyenne River is out of its banks in Edgemont.
6:55 p.m. Female complaining of a motorcycle speeding by on South Sixth Street, revving its motor when it goes past. City officers advised.
6:59 p.m. Male caller reporting his neighbor just came out and choked him. When asked why, he says it was because he was riding his bike a little too fast on South Sixth Street. Officers sent.
8:56 p.m. Highway Patrol arrested male for DUI on Highway 71.
11:59 p.m. Officers responded to a 911 call on Detroit. Male arrested on assault charges.
July 19
A total of 12 calls were listed on the log for July 19.
2:13 a.m. City officer made traffic stop on Chicago Avenue. Male arrested on traffic charges.
6:13 p.m. Male reporting accident by the Cheyenne River with nobody around. Male was driving the vehicle and was arrested for DUI.
9 p.m. Male caller from Log Cabin Motel requesting assistance with male yelling and screaming.
10:38 a.m. Female caller requesting a male be removed from her house.
July 20
A total of 27 calls were listed on the log for July 20.
12:34 a.m. Female caller reporting hearing gun shots in Hot Brook Canyon. Deputy sent.
2:06 a.m. City officer arrested male on local warrants.
1:43 p.m. Male reporting bolt cutter marks on his locks at a carwash. City officer sent.
3:28 p.m. Officer out with couple who are arguing in front of The Bar.
3:48 p.m. Female caller needing her apartment key back from ex-boyfriend.
4:21 p.m. Male reporting that there has been a pony in his yard all afternoon, on Coldbrook Road. (Maybe hes getting a pony for his birthday? SURPRISE HONEY!)
10:13 p.m. Female caller reporting a speeding motorcycle on South Sixth Street.
July 21
A total of 20 calls were listed on the log for July 21.
2:21 a.m. Female caller advising she is in a lot of pain and is headed to Fall River Hospital. Hospital and police alerted.
12:23 p.m. Male arrested on a local warrant.
12:26 p.m. Report of a group of kids shooting fireworks near Angostura Den; sheriff sent.
6:10 p.m. Officer made an arrest on a Fall River County warrant.
10:45 p.m. Female caller reporting a male sitting in his car, between The Bar and the VFW, honking his horn continuously. Officer responded; subject took a cab home.
