Hot Springs police and Fall River County Sheriff report

HOT SPRINGS - Here is a synopsis of the calls answered by the Hot Springs city police and the Fall River County sheriff for July 1 through July 7.

Information is taken from the public dispatch log at the sheriff’s office.

July 1

A total of nine calls were listed on the log for July 1.

9:32 a.m. – Call from the Evans office, advising that tenants were complaining about the rooster behind the Blue Bison, which crows every morning and seems to be unattended. City’s ACO was notified.

1:53 p.m. – Female caller reporting two fires in Custer State Park.

9:09 p.m. – Female requesting an officer as there is someone throwing rocks at her window in 1200 Estates.

July 2

A total of 18 calls, including nine traffic stops, were listed on the log for July 2.

2:09 a.m. – Report of a mountain lion on Highway 71.

6:58 a.m. – 911 call from residence in Hot Springs. Nobody on line. Officers responded to make sure things were alright.

11:17 a.m. – Caller in Valley View area complaining that individual continues to exceed the speed limit going up and down the hill on his 4-wheeler. Deputy notified and responded.

July 3

A total of 20 calls, including 13 traffic stops were listed on the log for July 3.

1:20 to 6:59 a.m. – Nine traffic stops were made in Hot Springs.

7:07 a.m. – Traffic stop made on University with a rental car, clocked doing more than twice the speed limit. An expensive citation was issued.

12:52 p.m. – Deputy dispatched to Oelrichs for a complaint of two young males on motorcycles racing around on Main Street and the old highway.

12:27 p.m. – Edgemont deputy notified that there was a complaint of speeders going through the train yard.

6:39 p.m. – Hot Springs Ambulance took a call on Baltimore for a woman feeling dizzy.

7:02 p.m. – Female complaining that it is ok for the city to do fireworks near the dump, while there is a fireworks ban for the county. She advised that she has hay and livestock near the dump and it concerns her.

July 4

A total of 20 calls, 10 of them traffic stops, were listed on the log for July 4.

12:02 a.m. – Deputy arrested a male on traffic charges and a Custer County warrant.

3:54 a.m. – Report of loud party at Cottonwood. Deputies sent.

10:48 a.m. – Call from the depot requesting an ambulance for a 17-month old.

1:49 p.m. – Deputy sent to Boaters Boulevard by Angostura for a jeep vs. 4-wheeler accident.

July 5

A total of 33 were listed on the log for July 5.

8:27 a.m. – Male arrested for driving with a revoked license. Subject was taken to jail, posted bond and was released.

3:14 p.m. – Super 8 motel requesting assistance with two mean dogs in a room, who are attacking staff and the owners are not around at this time. City ACO and officers notified and responded.

5:25 p.m. – Complaint from Oelrichs resident that someone has parked a trailer on her lot without her permission. Deputy responded to take complaint.

5:59 p.m. – Male caller requesting an officer to come to his residence to calm down a daughter who is throwing things. City officer responded.

7:59 p.m. – Report from male call at Coldbrook Lake, that he can hear someone firing off a gun. Deputy notified, but was unable to hear anything when he arrived.

8:54 p.m. – City officer advising that there is a rental car in Chautauqua Park with no one around. Unable to locate driver and officer shut the gates on the park.

9:48 p.m. – Report from campground that a male, who may have had too much to drink, was attempting to drive off in his vehicle. City units dispatched, but subject snuck out. Deputies notified as well.

July 6

A total of 33 calls were listed on the log for July 6.

12:31 a.m. – Report of a loud party on Wilson Avenue. Male arrested on multiple charges.

4:10 a.m. – Report of a domestic dispute at the FlatIron. Male arrested on assault charges.

8:39 a.m. – Edgemont Ambulance took a call from Cactus Hills for a male who walked in with chest pains.

8:53 a.m. – Female caller advising that she just drove past a mountain goat on Highway 71.

11:03 a.m. – Female caller reporting a fire in a trailer court, but she doesn’t know which one or which street she is on. Caller said the fire was under control and hung up. City officer checked all trailer courts in town and found no smoke or fire.

12:01 p.m. – City officer out on a keep-the-peace so a female could retrieve her belongings from her boyfriend’s house.

4:44 p.m. – Common Cents at Angostura requesting Park Ranger for male with heat stroke.

July 7

A total of 17 calls were listed on the log for July 7.

7:11 a.m. – Hot Springs Ambulance paged for a call off Fall River Road for a male not feeling well.

11:43 a.m. – Female caller advising she has a squirrel in her office.

12:43 p.m. – Female caller reporting her cell phone an wallet was stolen from her house in the county sometime over the weekend. Deputy responded to take a report.

4 p.m. – Owner of Larive Lake requesting fire department for a cabin on fire.
