Hot Springs police and Fall River County sheriff’s report

HOT SPRINGS - Here is a synopsis of the calls answered by the Hot Springs city police and the Fall River County sheriff for April 22 through April 28.

Information is taken from the public dispatch log at the sheriff’s office.

April 22

A total of 17 calls were listed on the log for April 22.

7:56 a.m. – Report of a break-in at Just Cuts; city officer notified and responded.

8:17 a.m. – Report from a resident on South Fourth that they are missing their big yellow fluffy cat.

8:22 a.m. – Report of an attempted theft of a cement bird bath at a residence on South 16th Street. Evidently the bird bath was too heavy, as the perpetrators did not make it too far before abandoning it. No damage was reported.

6:16 p.m. – Female caller reports loud music coming from the 200 block on South Sixth Street.

6:31 p.m. – Male and female each reporting a black Chevy truck hot rodding around Edgemont, and almost hit two cars.

9:23 p.m. – City officer made a traffic stop by the American Legion and arrested a female for DUI.

April 23

A total of 21 calls were listed on the log for April 23.

2:43 a.m. – Report of a man wearing a ski mask bothering a citizen on Chicago Street; officer responded.

9:33 a.m. – Male taken into custody on a Custer County warrant in court. Custer County notified.

5:34 p.m. – Male reporting that his car window was knocked out last night in Edgemont.

5:57 p.m. – Female reported vandalism to her car; city officer sent.

9:25 p.m. – Female reports her boyfriend told her he was being arrested. Informed her that dispatch had no knowledge of any pending arrest.

April 24

A total of 20 calls were listed on the log for April 24.

10:15 a.m. – Report from Coffee Cup Fuel Stop of an abandoned vehicle. Owner was told he could have it towed off his property.

11:47 a.m. – City officers out to do a welfare check on subject threatening to harm himself. Determined that the subject needs to be mentally evaluated and was taken into protective custody.

1:33 p.m. – City officer arrested a male on two Fall River County warrants and transported subject to jail.

5:59 p.m. – Female requesting an officer to remove an unwanted male from her residence.

April 25

A total of 21 calls were listed on the log for April 25.

12:15 a.m. – Highway Patrolman arrested a female on traffic and drug charges.

7:41 a.m. – Female reporting that she lost her purse three days ago in the area of the American Legion.

9:27 a.m. – Male at dispatch window requesting that a city officer be present when he goes to get stuff from a previous residence, for a keep the peace.

9:40 a.m. – Female caller complaining that deer keep jumping her chain-link fence and attacking her and her dogs. She wishes to have it logged so that people will be aware that this is an on-going problem.

6:43 p.m. – Male caller regarding a grey truck southbound on Highway 79, weaving between lanes and speeding. Deputy advised and male driver arrested on DUI charge.

11:41 p.m. – Officer made traffic stop on Lincoln Avenue; male arrested on traffic charges.

April 26

A total of 10 calls, including 10 traffic stops, were listed on the log for April 26.

4:39 a.m. – Report of an assault on Wilson Avenue; officer sent.

4:42 p.m. – Custer Hospital needing to speak to a deputy in reference to a dog bite in Edgemont.

April 27

A total of 22 calls were listed on the log for April 27.

5:26 a.m. – Male reporting that he was kicked out of his house; officer sent.

11 a.m. – Female reporting a suspicious white vehicle parked by her pasture. It raced away when she approached.

11:16 a.m. – Female reported a male wished to speak with an officer. Determined to be in need of ministerial aid.

4:51 p.m. – Custer County reported that they have gotten repeated 911 calls from a Hot Springs residence, reference to a domestic dispute. Officers sent; male found to have a Meade County warrant. Subject was arrested and transported to Fall River County jail.

9:28 p.m. – Female calling from VFW needing an officer for a fight. Officer sent, dispute settled.

9:47 p.m. - Male requesting to talk to an officer in reference to kids leaving skateboard ramp in the street. Officer sent, ramps removed.

April 28

5:54 a.m. – Male reporting there is a guy stuck in the dumpster by the phone company. City officer sent, subject was out before he arrived.

8:04 a.m. – Game warden advised he will be in the Doran Road area to try to put the fear into some of the aggressive deer.

12:19 p.m. – Report of a small red car tailgating another car on South Garden and River Street. Car also nearly ran into reporting party when she slowed down for a deer. City officer kept eye out and eventually pulled the car over for a chat with the driver.

1:18 p.m. – Male turned himself in on a Fall River County warrant.

3:58 p.m. – Assistance requested for male lying on the sidewalk near Traden-A-Dollar.

4:40 p.m. – Male requesting that an unwanted female be removed from his porch at 1200 Estates.

5:35 p.m. – Female reporting two young boys carrying some type of gun toward Chicago.
